A first set

Starter locs

Comb coils, two-strand twists or interlocking: we choose the method with you on a consultation call, then start your locs in one long visit or two.

Each method suits different hair. Coils suit shorter lengths, twists suit hair that holds a twist and interlocking holds each loc at the root from the first day. We say what each one asks of you in the first months, then agree the size, the parting and the plan for your next visits.

What to bring or tell us

  • Your hair as it is, washed and free of oil or heavy product

  • A photo of the size and parting you have in mind, if you have one

  • Anything you've used on your hair lately

  • A drink and something to watch or read

Questions about this service

Which method should I choose?

That's what the consultation call is for. Length, density and how you wash and style your hair decide it more than a name does.

How long until my locs are locs?

It varies from person to person. Locs go through stages, and the first months can look different from week to week. We talk about what to expect before you start.

Can I wash them after?

We tell you when. Most people wash gently from the first weeks, with a method and a schedule we agree at your visit.

Can the day be split in two?

Yes, for longer methods and for locs that are smaller or more numerous. We plan it on the call.
